Day 19: Last Ride
Trip completed! A celebration cigar!
Foggy and cool Golden Gate Bridge.
So all good things come to an end. Today, August 1st, was the last time on my “epic” trip that I saddled up on my bike. I rode from Carmel to San Francisco. It was an uneventful, but chilly ride with a quick visit to the Golden Gate bridge, and then bringing my bike to San Fran Harley Davidson for a service and to supervise the pick up for the shipment home.
I have mixed emotions about finishing the trip, but my main one is an immense sense of accomplishment. This is something I wanted to do ever since I got my motorcycle seven years ago. I’m a late bloomer in terms of motorcycle riders as I learned to ride and obtained my motorcycle driver license endorsement at the advanced age of 56. I started on my son Jason’s bike and then got my classic Harley Road King in 2016. I put about 4756 total miles on this trip including todays final 130 miles. After almost short circuiting my trip on the first day with my tumble, I persevered and pushed on experiencing our amazing diverse country. It was an unforgettable experience and I’m grateful that I had this platform to memorialize it (thank you again Tan) and share this experience as best I can. I’d also like to thank my wife Tanya for her love and support, encouraging me to pursue this epic ride. I will probably convert to a trike bike after this trip so she will feel comfortable joining me on my future journeys! 😁 Thanks to my family for words of encouragement and feedback on my travels and blog. Love you all.
I’ll post more videos and photos later.
