Day 4: BRP & Jam Session

Yesterday was a perfect riding day! Clear and dry and good temperature. (Although it varied from low 80s near Asheville to 57 on top of Mount Mitchell!). Riding the BRP is like a little kid in a candy store. You just want to keep on stopping! And you can because there are observation points all along the parkway. You could literally stop every five minutes and I actually stopped every 15 to 20 minutes just to take in the sights and enjoy it. You’ll see on my previous post I added photos from my day’s journey. I’m staying at a hotel actually a motel called Meadowlark motel in Maggie Valley North Carolina. It’s an old style where you park right outside your room which I actually like. Last night happened to be jam session which is a group of local musicians just getting together in the speakeasy they have downstairs. It was really fun and interesting to listen to them. I’ve included a clip and photo so you get a sense of it. Quite serendipitous. Good ol’ Bluegrass Appalachian Mountain music!

Today is another ride day as I’m off to the TAIL of the Dragon. Most often cited as the best motorcycle ride in the US. It’s only 11 miles long but so many twisties many with banked turns! Along the way I’ll be traveling through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. That’s all for now!
