Day 7: Cruising from St. Louis to Kansas City
Yesterday, Thursday, 7/20, I started my three day trek to Colorado. I have two separate two-night stays planned with 4-5 days of mountain twisty, high altitude, and cooler riding. It’ll be nice to stay more than one night in a place! I’ve estimated it takes me about 90 minutes every day to unpack, set up in room, pack back up, and pack up the bike. That last part takes the longest as I have to be sure to strap down every little bit. I don’t want to think about the security of my luggage going down the highway at 80 MPH. And of course, after I secure it and check how it doesn’t move at all, I have to say the dad thing; “that’s not going anywhere”!
It’s I-70 all the way. I rode from St. Louis to west of Kansas City dodging rain and storms yesterday. Todays ride will be out to Colby KS, near the CO border and then on to Georgetown Lake on Saturday the 22nd.
Interesting, if I go further today to Burlington, CO, the clock will say I’ve arrived earlier than the time I left Colby, KS since I would have crossed another time zone line!
I don’t expect many photos but I’ll share as I can.
