Day 5: Tennessee Twisties
I just completed a phenomenal riding day logging over 275 miles, including the Tail of the Dragon twice in the morning, and then the Cherohala Skyway. Both of these rides are in western North Carolina and Tennessee. All I can say is wow wow wow! Some of the best rides and twisty roads I’ve ever done. I decided to leave my stay in Deals Gap (at the base of the Dragon) and head toward Nashville a day early because of the weather forecast. I was able to get as far is Lebanon,Tennessee which is about 40 minutes outside of Nashville. It looks like I’ll be here until mid day tomorrow based on the weather forecast. Speaking of twisties, there were forecasting tornadoes here and as I was arriving at a hotel, the winds picked up and I felt like I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz! Some of my gear was getting blown away, and I had to go run after it! I was able to get all my stuff inside before the lightning and thunder started. I’m reliving images of my twisty roads today while I look for twister outside my hotel window.
I’m in the central time zone and have an extra hour this evening. Not sure what I should do with it! 😁 How about I do this post with some photos!?

Apparently putting your sticker on objects along the way is a thing.
At the entrance of Cherolala Skyway. More stickers
The skyway
Tree of Shame. Motorcycle and car parts from Tail of the Dragon crashes. Right outside my room at Deals Gap.
Of course I stopped and bought a t-shirt.
Scary skies!
